Angus McEwan RSW ARWS
In 1983 I went to Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee and did a Degree in Fine Art then a Post-Graduate Degree in Fine Art. I then took up a partnership with another artist doing commissioned art pieces and this eventually led to having a gallery in Dundee for a short time
At the time I was exhibiting and creating, all be it on a rather constrained basis. I then decided to do a postgraduate certificate in Secondary Education at Aberdeen Northern College, gaining a distinction. Independent of my studies at college, I won the prestigious Alastair Salvesen Travel Award and Scholarship. When I finished my teaching certificate I traveled with my wife to China for approximately 3 months. During my stay in China I created a total of 51 pieces of work, which went on display in the Royal Scottish Academy, The Mound, Edinburgh. I was then approached to do some part-time lecturing at Dundee College. I currently lecture on the Portfolio course, HNC Contemporary Art Practise, and the Degree in Design and Creativity course as well as life drawing.
Up do date I continue to teach 2 days per week at the college and this allows me the rest of my time to work on my paintings. I was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1995 and became an associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society in 2009.
